Fluorescent Light Tubes & Globes

Fluorescent light globes contain mercury which can be dangerous if put into landfill. Drop of your light globes at the Community Recycling Centre at the Waste Management Centre. Free if separated from other waste. Phone: (02) 6332 9111

Foam

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) cannot be recycled in the yellow lidded recycling bin. However, for large quantities a recycled private contractor may be able to assist with recycling. Search “recycling polystyrene” in the Yellow Pages.

Food Waste

All food waste (along with green waste can be placed into the lime green lidded food and green waste bin. Click the title link for a list of foods and materials that are acceptable.

Fridges & Freezers

Fridges and freezers left for disposal could trap and suffocate young children. To avoid this danger, doors should be removed from whitegoods and other large airtight containers before disposal.

Furniture

Furniture should be in good condition and ideally delivered to the store during business hours. Furniture should never be dumped near charity bins or at the front of charity stores. This is not only classed as illegal dumping but often means the items are vandalised or damaged before they can be used.
