Urban Roads

Road pavement repairs will be undertaken in Howick Street, between Rankin St and Stewart St, as part of Council's resurfacing program from Monday 3 August.

The work will take two to three weeks, weather permitting and involve multiple asphalt pavement repairs to restore the road to a safe condition.

• Traffic control will be in place daily between 7am and 4pm
• Motorists may experience delays and temporary changes to traffic conditions
• Road users are asked to follow all signage and comply with directions from traffic controllers at all times.

Water main replacement works

Water main replacement works will occur on Bradwardine Road, between Suttor St and the Mitchell Highway from Tuesday 4 August 2026.

The works will involve excavation, trenching and the installation of a new 375mm cast iron water main along the western side of Bradwardine Road.

Works will generally be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. 

Traffic control will be in place throughout the work. Two-way traffic will be maintained but drivers are asked to follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers on site as there may be some changed road conditions.

The work is expected to take five to six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Rural works

• Mt Rankin area - Whalans Lane - maintenance grade
• Old Truck Road - maintenance grade
• Hill End Village - drainage maintenance

White Rock Road - Lee Street intersection to Wallaroi Close

• Scope: Road reconstruction of the existing pavement including widening and drainage improvements. Approximate length: 850 m.
  • Status: Scheduled to commence early April
  • Funding Source:Roads to Recovery – Federal Government
• Turondale Road at ‘Gimlet Gulley’
• • Scope: Road pavement upgrade for 1 km (500 m each side of the newly constructed culvert).
  • Status: Scheduled to commence February/March 2026, anticipated completion May 2026.

Temporary load limit - Wallaby Rocks Bridge

Transport for NSW has advised Council that a temporary 10-tonne load limit has been placed on Wallaby Rocks Bridge on Hill End Road from Friday 31 July 2026.

The load limit has been put into place after Transport identified deterioration in a structural component during engineering inspections.

The bridge remains open and current engineering assessments indicate it is safe for light vehicles to continue using. The load restriction if a precautionary measure while Transport undertakes further inspections and investigations.

Vehicles over 10 tonnes will need to use an alternate route via Ilford/Sofala Road and the Castlereagh Highway.

Transport is assessing options to reinforce the bridge and restore increased access as quickly as possible while maintaining the safety of road users and the community.

At this stage Transport anticipates restoring greater access within one month.

Further information will be provided as investigations process and arrangements are confirmed.

Level crossing update - Trunkey Road, Perthville   

UGL Regional Linx will upgrade the level crossing at Trunkey Road, Perthville in August 2026.

Work will occur from 6am Saturday 15 August to 6pm Wednesday 19 August 2026, weather permitting, including during the day, evening and overnight.

A temporary road closure and a 23-kilometre detour via Trunkey Road, Rockley Street, Cow Flat Road, Rockley Road, Bathurst Street, Bridge Street and Vale Road will be in place during the works.
