Road works

During November our works crews will be working in the following areas: 

Drainage & construction works - Prince Street, Perthville

Drainage and road construction works are underway in Prince Street between Church and Rockley Streets. These works are part of a broader infrastructure improvement project and will involve:

  • Installation of new drainage pipes.
  • Preparation for kerb and road reconstruction.

Council’s Urban Works team are on site with appropriate traffic control measures in place to ensure the safety of workers and the public during this reconstruction works.

A full road closure is currently in place to facilitate further construction activities. Council is working closely with local bus companies and the school to ensure they are informed and can plan accordingly. Resident access remains available.

Minor traffic delays may be experienced during the initial drainage works, and more significant disruptions are expected during the full road closure period. Detours will be clearly signposted.

All affected residents have been notified directly regarding the scope and timing of the works. Updates will also be provided via Council’s social media channels. 

Urban Roads

  • Gormans Hill Road - approximately 1.5km towards Lagoon Rd intersection - Currently underway
  • Lagoon Road – approximately 2.5km from Gormans Hill Road intersection - Currently underway
  • Howick St (between Willam St and Bentinck St - possible nightwork) - Late November / Early December
  • Gilmour St - Between Hereford St and Paddy's Hotel
  • Eltham Drive Kelso - Mid December / early January 2026

There will also be some minor maintenance works undertaken in George St, Rankin St, Stanley St and Hobson Cl.

Oates Place

Council’s contractor, Downer, will be resurfacing Oates Place, Eglington, Monday and Tuesday 24 and 25 November, weather permitting. Works are expected to take only one day however an extra day is available as a contingency. A letter drop to the residents will be completed by the contractor.

The public are asked not to use Oates Place while works are progressing. If residents need vehicular access on the day, provisions will be made by the traffic controllers.

Rural Roads

Works commencing 1 December

  • Black Mountain Road - Rockley area  - maintenance grade
  • Freemantle Rd reconstruction
  • Hill End village  -grading
  • Hill End Rd - drainage maintenance

Freemantle Road

Council has begun reconstruction of approximately 1.4 kilometres of existing Freemantle Road from near the southern approach to the Freemantle Rural Fire Service shed to the Killongbutta Road intersection. This work started Monday, 3 November 2025. The works include:

  • Widening of the existing bitumen pavement
  • Installation of new concrete piped drainage culverts
  • Enhancement of existing table drainage
  • Placement of additional road base material to raise the road profile in selected areas
  • Stabilisation of the new pavement to improve long-term structural integrity
  • Application of a new bitumen spray seal surface upon completion of the reconstruction

The project is expected to take approximately 6 to 8 weeks. The work is weather dependent.

Traffic control measures and appropriate signage will be in place. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to allow additional travel time between 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Turondale Road, Turondale

Council is upgrading a culvert on Gimlet Gully, approximately 25 km North of Eglinton on the Turondale Road. A single lane side track with traffic lights will be in operation whilst the culvert is under construction. Work on the culvert is expected to commence from 24 November and is expected to take one month to complete.

O'Connell Road

Council is undertaking maintenance works including patching and sealing on behalf of Transport for NSW on O'Connell Road between the Great Western Highway intersection and Black Mill Lane intersection from Monday 17 November 2025 for approximately three weeks. There will be short delays and speed restrictions in place while the work is occurring.

Works will be carried out between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am and 1pm on Saturdays. 

Vale, Trunkey and Goulburn Roads

Council is undertaking maintenance works including patching and sealing on behalf of Transport for NSW along Vale, Trunkey and Goulburn Roads from Monday 1 December 2025.

The work area will be between the Vale and Lloyds Road intersection and the Goulburn and Caves Road intersection.

Works will be carried out between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am and 1pm on Saturdays
