Principal Certifying Authority

Bathurst Council’s building surveyors provide the full range of building certification services, including assessing and determining construction certificates, complying development certificates and occupation certificates, and carry out all mandatory building inspections.

Council’s five building surveyors are highly experienced with over 80 years of service in local government. All Council’s building surveyors are registered under the Building and Development Certifiers Registration Scheme ranging from Building Inspector to Building Surveyor.

Customers can expect Council's certification service to provide:

  • Experience ranging from aged care facilities and shopping centres to dwellings.
  • One day notice of mandatory inspections.
  • Excellent local knowledge of building, planning and construction requirements.
  • The knowledge and skill to reach appropriate resolutions of building related issues.

Complying Development Certificates and Construction Certificates

Complying Development Certificates (CDC) for new dwellings, additions to dwellings and swimming pools are approved by Council within 24 hours of lodgement.

To apply for a CDC or a Construction Certificate you will need to apply via the NSW Planning Portal.  Information on how to apply can be found here...

Inspection of Building Work

Council’s building surveyors carry out all of the necessary mandatory inspections related to building work.

These inspections are listed on the Schedule attached to Complying Development or Construction Certificates.

To book an inspection, customers can phone Council’s Environmental, Planning & Building Services Department on 6333 6211 from 8.30am - 4.45pm on weekdays or via Council's online booking system.

Bookings for an inspection can be made up until 4pm the day before the inspection is required.
