Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Harmony Week is an opportunity to acknowledge diversity whilst demonstrating our commitment to living together harmoniously as Australians.  The message of Harmony Day is “Everyone Belongs”.

Harmony Week is celebrated Monday 16 March to Sunday 22 March 2026. The United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is Saturday 21 March.

Locals, businesses, community groups and schools are encouraged to celebrate Harmony Week by participating in the below events.

Bathurst Library Community Exhibition

You’re Invited to Help Create a Living Map of Belonging.

Bathurst Library invites community members of all ages and backgrounds to take part in a new participatory exhibition exploring the themes of home, belonging and journeys and being in Bathurst here and now.

From mid-March 2026, our floor-to-ceiling windows will become a shared canvas — visible both inside and out — filled with community reflections displayed on cards.

Guided by local artist Fiona Howle, these responses will be linked by a pre-painted road winding across the glass, referencing both highways and country dirt roads, and symbolising the many paths that bring us together. The result will be a living map of belonging, shaped by the voices of our community

We invite you to reflect on the meaning of “home”, whether it’s a place, a person, a feeling, or a memory, and to think about the journey that brought you here, the moments you’ve felt most connected, and what makes you feel like you truly belong. Your story matters, and it’s part of the tapestry that binds our community together.

Free participation. All ages. All backgrounds.
