Partial Road Closure | Coles Bridge  

Council advises that Coles Bridge across the Turon River on Turondale Road will be partially closed from Thursday 2 October to Saturday 4 October, 9am to 3pm.  

The partial closure is for maintenance works on the bridge. Traffic control will be in place. 

Code of Meeting Practice  

On 29 August 2025, the Office of Local Government via Circular 25-20 released an updated Model Code of Meeting Practice. The circular noted that the Model Code must adopt a Code of Meeting Practice that incorporates the mandatory provisions of the 2025 Model Meeting Code by 31 December 2025. 

Among other changes, the mandatory provisions of the 2025 Model Meeting Code will prohibit pre-meeting briefings. Councils must also livestream meetings of the council and committees comprising wholly of councillors from 1 January 2026 using an audio-visual recording. Recordings of meetings must be published on the council’s website for the balance of the council term or for 12 months, whichever is the later date. 

More detailed information about the changes to council meeting practices made by the 2025 Model Meeting Code is provided in the FAQ document provided in the document library. All 31 submissions already received will be considered in conjunction with any new submissions received during this exhibition period.

Labour Day long weekend closures  

Bathurst Regional Art Gallery: 

BRAG will be closed this Monday 6 October 2025 for the Public Holiday with normal hours resuming Tuesday 7 October 2025. 

Notice of the closure can be found on BRAGs social media page, website, and a sign on the door. 

Civic Centre: 

Council’s Civic Centre Administration Building will be closed on Monday 6 October 2025 for the Labour Day public holiday and will reopen at 8.30am Tuesday 7 October. 

Waste services will continue as normal. 

Submissions Open for Australia Day Awards 2026 

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Australia Day Awards. 

This includes Bathurst’s Citizen of the Year, our Living Legends, the Youth Arts Awards, and a new award for 2026, the Youth Community Service Award. Nominations for these awards will close Friday 7 November 2025. 

The Event of the Year award is also open for nominations. There are three categories to be awarded, including Destination Event of the Year, Community Event of the Year, as well as the most outstanding New Event of the Year. Nominations for these awards can be made up until Friday 9 January 2026.

2025 Cortina National Show and Shine | Temporary Road Closure 

Council advises the temporary closure of Russell Street between William and George Street and Church Street between Parrish and Ribbon Gang Lane on Sunday 5 October 2025 between 6am and 5pm. 

The temporary closure is for the holding of the 2025 Cortina Nationals including a Show and Shine Car Display in the Bathurst CBD.

Temporary Road Closures | Repco Bathurst 1000 Race Week Off Track Events 

Council advises that the following temporary road closures will be in place for Race Week Off Track events. 

-Closure of Russell Street and Church Street between William Street and George Street from 6am Tuesday 7 October to 6am Thursday 9 October. 

-Closure of William Street between Church Street and Russell Street from 4.30pm to 7pm on Wednesday 8 October. 

-No parking on Russell Street and Church Street between William Street and George Street from 4pm Monday 6 October. 

-No parking on William Street between Church Street and Lambert Street from 5am to 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 October. 

-From 5am Wednesday 8 October fixed pedestrian barriers and bollards with caution tape will be in place along William Street between Russell Street and Lambert Street for pedestrian safety and will be removed after the parade has finished from approx. 6pm. 

Pedestrians are advised to take caution within the CBD between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday 8 October with increased crowd numbers expected. Take care when crossing the road, keep an eye on kids, watch from designated areas and stay alert around moving vehicles.
