Labour Day long weekend closures  

Council's Civic Centre Administration Building will be closed on Monday 6 October for the Labour Day public holiday and will reopen at 8.30am Tuesday 7 October.  

Waste services will continue as normal. 

Submissions open for Australia Day Awards 2026 

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Australia Day Awards. 

This includes Bathurst’s Citizen of the Year, our Living Legends, the Youth Arts Awards, and a new award for 2026, the Youth Community Service Award. Nominations for these awards will close Friday 7 November 2025. 

The Event of the Year award is also open for nominations. There are three categories to be awarded, including Destination Event of the Year, Community Event of the Year, as well as the most outstanding New Event of the Year. Nominations for these awards can be made up until Friday 9 January 2026.

Sustainable Bathurst and BMEC Presents JUNKLANDIA! 

These school holidays, get out of the house, and into the theatre! JUNKLANDIA is a spectacle of rhythm, dance, circus and comedy, with creative recycling, guaranteed to blow your mind! Join the dynamic adventure of these musical misfits as they repurpose the junk that the world has forgotten.  

You’ll never look at recycled materials in the same way again! 

“We should all strive to reduce waste by being more considerate with our purchases, remembering that the waste we produce can be recycled, reused or recreated! Bathurst has many facilities available to recycle your waste including kerbside collection, Return and Earn depots and at the Bathurst Waste Management Centre. Make the right choice and choose to reduce, reuse and recycle your waste and together we can keep Bathurst beautiful,” commented a Council Spokesperson, reflection on the production's message.

Nightworks at Evans Bridge on Great Western Highway 

Transport for NSW will be carrying out routine bridge maintenance work on Evans Bridge on the Great Western Highway, between Bathurst and Kelso. The work will include rehabilitation of steel expansion joints in the westbound lane of Evans Bridge. 

They’ll be working at Evans Bridge near the intersection of Great Western Highway and Havannah Street from 29 September, for four nights, weather permitting. They will be working at night from 7pm to 6am, Monday to Fridays.

Temporary Road Closures | Repco Bathurst 1000 Race Week Off Track Events 

Council advises that the following temporary road closures will be in place for Race Week Off Track events. 

-Closure of Russell Street and Church Street between William Street and George Street from 6am Tuesday 7 October to 6am Thursday 9 October. 

-Closure of William Street between Church Street and Russell Street from 4.30pm to 7pm on Wednesday 8 October. 

-No parking on Russell Street and Church Street between William Street and George Street from 4pm Monday 6 October. 

-No parking on William Street between Church Street and Lambert Street from 5am to 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 October. 

-From 5am Wednesday 8 October fixed pedestrian barriers and bollards with caution tape will be in place along William Street between Russell Street and Lambert Street for pedestrian safety and will be removed after the parade has finished from approx. 6pm. 

Pedestrians are advised to take caution within the CBD between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday 8 October with increased crowd numbers expected. Take care when crossing the road, keep an eye on kids, watch from designated areas and stay alert around moving vehicles. Registration for dogs and cats 

All pet dogs and cats in NSW need to be registered on the NSW Pet Registry. Microchipping is the first step. Registration must be completed 12 weeks after their date of birth (or on the day the animal is transferred to its new owner if before 12 weeks old). Manning Aquatic Centre Changeroom Upgrades - Complete 

The upgrades to the male changerooms in Bathurst’s Manning Aquatic Centre were completed this week and they are now back open for use. This project joins the upgrade completion of the women’s changerooms earlier in the year, giving the facility a welcome renovation ahead of the summer months. Works included the replacement of shower and toilet partitioning, installation of new shower heads & taps, basins, waterproofing, new toilets, wall tiling, and a new floor surfacing treatment.
