Petstock Adoption Day
Are you looking for a new furry friend to add to your family? BARC will be heading along to the Petstock animal adoption day next Saturday 3 October! This is a great chance to speak with our friendly staff from BARC and meet some of the pets looking for their forever homes.

Active Ageing Week Events
To mark Active Ageing Week, Council has partnered with Bathurst Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Centre and Manning Aquatic Centre to deliver two Active Ageing community events.
All day on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, Manning Aquatic Centre will offer FREE pool access for Concession card holders and their carers, including Seniors and People Living with a Disability.
Then, at 10am on Tuesday 20 October, Bathurst Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Centre will deliver a FREE seated entry-level strength and balance class at Centennial Park.

Draft Policy - Minimum Standards for Public Roads for Dwellings in Rural and Village Areas Including Crown Roads
Council is seeking feedback on its draft Minimum Standards for public roads for dwellings in rural and village areas including Crown Roads Policy.
The Policy is to establish minimum standards to be used by Council when considering proposals for new housing in rural and village areas. Council is required, as part of its deliberations, to determine whether adequate access is available or can be made to provide access to properties. In many cases roads may be either non-existent or rudimentary in nature. The Policy provides minimum standards to be achieved for dwellings in those circumstances. The Policy also provides guidance on additional matters where a proposal relies upon a Crown Road as access, including the agreement of DPHI – Crown Lands and meeting of costs. Should it be adopted the Policy will repeal Council’s existing Crown Roads Policy.

Draft Dangerous and Menacing Dogs Policy
Council is seeking feedback on its draft Dangerous and Menacing Dogs Policy.
The policy describes how Council will assess the appropriate regulatory response regarding an alleged dog attack. The policy applies to the investigation of an alleged dog attack or dog displaying unreasonable aggression in the Bathurst Regional Council local government area. It also outlines the review process for Dangerous and Menacing Dog Declarations.

Road Pavement Repairs – Rankin St
Road pavement repairs will be undertaken in Rankin St, between Russell St and Keppel St, as part of Council's Resurfacing Program for 2026/27. Council’s Bitumen crews are scheduled to commence repair works on Tuesday 22 September.
The repair works are expected to take approximately 2-3 weeks, weather permitting, and will involve multiple asphalt pavement repairs to restore the roadway to a safe condition.
During the repair period, traffic control will be in place daily between 7am and 4pm. Motorists may experience delays and temporary changes to traffic conditions.

Kaleidoscope Festival - Request for Vendors
Bathurst has been successful in receiving funding from Multicultural NSW which will be used to deliver a new event for Bathurst ‘The Kaleidoscope Festival,’ to be held 7 November at Victoria Park.
To bring the event to life, Council is seeking a vibrant mix of food vendors, market stalls, performers and workshop facilitators that reflect the many cultures represented in our community.
