The Manning Aquatic Centre will be closed to all public and user groups between 1 July – 4 July 2025 for essential upgrade works to the centre’s filtration plantroom.
The plantroom switchboard houses the main control gear for the operations of the aquatic centre’s filtration, heating, chemical dosing and monitoring systems, and has reached an age that requires a complete upgrade and replacement.
Acting Mayor, Cr Ben Fry, commented on the importance of this timely upgrade – the switchboard being fundamental to the aquatic centre’s function.
"For 18 years, the Manning Aquatic Centre has been a vital community asset, providing a space for recreation, fitness and social connection. At the heart of this facility is its plantroom switchboard - the powerhouse that ensures the centre operates smoothly. This planned upgrade represents a significant investment in the future of our aquatic facility, bringing modernised electrical systems and enhanced safety measures.
“By incorporating this upgraded infrastructure, we are not only improving the facility’s reliability in the short term but also demonstrating our commitment to ensuring the Aquatic Centre continues to serve our community for many years to come," said Cr Fry.
To upgrade the plantroom switchboard, power to the plantroom will need to be isolated during the installation works. It is anticipated that it will take 4 days to complete all required works before power can be reconnected to the plantroom area.
The centre will be closed to all patrons during this time as it will not be possible to maintain the required hygiene levels necessary for public swimming. Correspondence will be sent out to all pool members via the Manning Aquatic management team.
