The public exhibition period for the draft Bathurst Flood Study Update has been extended by 14 days, now closing on Friday 11 September.
Deputy Mayor, Cr Ben Fry, remarked that Councillors have listened to valuable community feedback, and recognised the need for an extension to the consultation.
"Council appreciates that there is extensive information for residents to read and understand as part of this project. While we had more than 90 attendees to our one-on-one consultation sessions and have received close to 100 public submissions to date, Councillors acknowledge that there are still concerns among residents and we want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be heard.
“The draft Bathurst Flood Study Update considers how changing rainfall patterns may affect flood behaviour over time, including the prospect of more intense rainfall events and a greater number of properties being affected across Bathurst. This is an important piece of work, and we want to make sure the community has every opportunity to understand it and have their say. That’s why Council has agreed to extend the submission deadline to Friday 11 September, bringing the total public exhibition period to 53 days,” said Cr Fry.
All draft project information, including detailed FAQs, summarised Explanation Documents and an Explanation Video Presentation, can be found on Council's YourSay site: https://yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/bathurst-flood-study-update
