Panorama Punish Announcement

From 2026, Bathurst Regional Council will be taking over the organisation and management of the multi award-winning Mount Panorama Punish.

Dreamt up in 2017 by Bathurst locals Jenn Arnold and Stephen Jackson, the Panorama Punish is a 6.2km running event around our iconic Mount Panorama circuit. No longer in the position to organise the growing event alone, Council will be stepping in to take over operations whilst Ms Arnold maintains a brand ambassador role.

Celebrating 8 years this past Sunday, the Panorama Punish draws hundreds of visitors to Bathurst. Mayor Cr Robert Taylor remarked that the event celebrates the breathtaking appeal of the Mount Panorama Circuit while introducing it to a wider audience beyond motor racing enthusiasts.

“The Punish is a terrific event. Attracting more than 700 entrants each year, with close to 80% travelling from outside our 2795 postcode, it has helped to reshape the perception of Bathurst as a vibrant destination with more on offer than our annual car races.

“Having assisted with the planning and promotion of the event in previous years, Council is pleased to add the Punish to our annual events calendar, ensuring the legacy of Jenn & Stephen’s fabulous vision is maintained.

“This event also exemplifies how we can activate Mount Panorama beyond motorsport, transforming it into a year-round destination for world-class events. The Punish not only delivers a consistent profit, but as a three-time winner of Bathurst Destination Event of the Year it reinforces Council’s strategic vision for The Mount as a dynamic community and tourism asset. As a trusted favourite on the road running calendar, the Punish continues to elevate Bathurst’s profile while showcasing the versatility and appeal of our iconic circuit,” said Mayor Taylor.

Race Owner & Co-founder, Jenn Arnold, noted she is eager to see the event continue to grow, thanks to Council’s management and the mass volunteer-base.

“The Punish is a joyous event that brings runners of every level together. Each year we are supported by a passionate team of more than 50 volunteers which is a testament to the enduring community spirit of the race.

“It’s immensely pleasing that our event can be carried forward with Council at the helm, ensuring that the race can live on as a tribute to Stephen,” said Ms Arnold.
