On 8 March each year, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world.

The theme for 2025 is #AccelerateAction.

Council will be celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 this March with a range of events, initiatives and collaborations. The full schedule of events is listed below.

Mayor Cr Robert Taylor reflected on the importance of International Women’s Day as an occasion that demands both celebration and action.

“International Women’s Day celebrates all women’s achievements and raises awareness for persistent issues of equality on a local and global level.

“We need to champion not just gender equality, but champion respect. This is imperative across all aspects of our day-to-day lives in order to accelerate action and necessary change.

“Importantly, I encourage men to get involved this International Women’s Day too. The events that Council has arranged provide stark insight into the entrenched levels of disparity and barriers within our society that need to be addressed through an all-of-community approach,” Mayor Taylor noted.
