Council has launched a Kerbside Service Education Campaign, providing residents with practical information to improve their weekly kerbside garbage collection process.
Mayor Robert Taylor noted communications will provide guidance for correct kerbside garbage practices, supporting consistent delivery expectations for both residents and staff.
"Council recently conducted a review of kerbside bin collection operations and customer service data which identified common issues including bins not being presented on time, incorrect bin placement and access obstructions, as well as overfilled, contaminated and damaged bins.
"This educational campaign is designed to help residents understand how simple changes in bin presentation can improve collection efficiency, reduce missed services and support safer collection operations for residents as well as Council staff," said Mayor Taylor.
Residents are reminded to:
Place bins out by 4:00am on collection day, or simply the evening before
Position bins at least 0.5 metres apart and face them towards the road
Keep bins clear of parked vehicles, trees, poles and other obstructions
Ensure lids are fully closed and bins are not overfilled
Use the correct bin for general waste (red), recycling (yellow) and FOGO materials (green)
Report damaged or missing bins to Council
Garbage collection days and downloadable guidelines can be found on Council's website: https://www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/Services/Waste-Recycling/Kerbside-Collection
Hardcopies of the guidelines can also be collected from Council's civic centre and library.
