Council Holding Household Chemical Cleanout Event

On 2 August, Council will once again be hosting its annual Household Chemical Cleanout to provide residents with a safe and free way to dispose of a wide range of household hazardous materials.  

Mayor Robert Taylor noted this is a valuable event for residents seeking to clear out their homes of chemicals and hazardous materials that aren’t allowed in curb-side bin disposal. 

“We all have products and items around our home that require more care when disposing of. This may include household cleaning fluids, garden and pool chemicals, batteries, paint, motor oil, fire extinguishers, gas bottles and smoke detectors. Hazardous items such as these aren’t allowed to be disposed of in our red bins, which is why Council’s Household Chemical Cleanout is incredibly useful for locals who are doing a bit of a clean-up. 

“This event is a safe and convenient way to protect our communities and public health. Items can be brought to Harris Park, Mount Panorama on Sunday 2 August from 11am-2pm for free disposal. Please do ensure when transporting any chemicals that all containers are sealed, sat upright and aren’t leaking,” said Mayor Taylor.  

This service is strictly for household quantities only. Businesses and commercial operators are not eligible to use this collection.
