Merchant Fees

Council has been reviewing areas of where it can make savings as part of our financial review.

One of these was to recover merchant fees, which is standard practice across businesses and local government authorities.

Council advertised the proposed change at the end of 2023; and reported on it again at the February 2024 Council meeting.

No submissions were received and the fees will be introduced from 1 April 2024.

Council opted for the lowest fee applicable to all of its online payments, and will introduce a 0.42% surcharge.
