Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) is one of the oldest public regional galleries in NSW, located on Wiradyuri Country. BRAG presents a dynamic program of exhibitions, commissions, public and education programs and public art. BRAG is a professionally staffed facility owned and operated by Bathurst Regional Council. As a respected and accessible space, BRAG celebrates the visual arts to inspire, challenge and connect our community: building and fostering opportunities for regional artists, as a place for our community to express their voices, cultural ideas and aspirations.
Built in 1989, it was one of the first purpose-built regional galleries in NSW and provides a platform for the meeting of ideas and artforms of regional, national and international artists. The Gallery creates quality touring exhibitions and has a proven reputation of developing ambitious solo survey and thematic collective exhibitions.
BRAG has forged strong links with surrounding historical townships such as Hill End, Carcoar, Sofala and Millthorpe – creating a unique attraction and an engaging platform for the full spectrum of creative practices in the region.
From 1955, the Art Gallery Collection has grown to include almost 2700 artworks.
