Mayor 6-Hour

Whether you were at the race, relaxing at home, or enjoying a challenging Easter egg hunt, I hope a lovely long weekend with family and friends was enjoyed by all.

And what a race it was! It was terrific to have the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6-Hour roar into action at The Mount over the Easter long weekend. With a record 72 cars contesting the win, we knew it would be a memorable day. Well done to our 2025 winners, local Bathurst driver Dean Campbell, of Campbells Transport, and Co-Driver Cameron Crick who, from 66th on the grid, came through to a thrilling win at the Bathurst 6-Hour. This was the first time in the history of the 6-Hour that a Bathurst driver won outright, and it set the record for the farthest back a winner has started in a Bathurst enduro before – what a feat.

Today, communities across the nation will pause to honour ANZAC Day. On 25 April 1915, young Australian soldiers landed on the Gallipoli peninsula, showing extraordinary bravery in harrowing circumstances, and in 2025 we mark the 110th anniversary of their immense courage. Commemorative events will be held across our region today, including our annual Bathurst Dawn Service at the War Memorial Carillon and the ANZAC Day March, as well as services in Glanmire, Rockley, Yetholme, Limekilns & Sofala. ANZAC Day brings communities like ours together and provides a vital moment of remembrance and recognition of the selfless service of those who came before us. Lest we forget.
