Australia Day

Australia Day

Bathurst will play host to a weekend of celebrations for Australia Day 2019.

Australia Day Ambassador
Greg Donovan

Greg has dedicated himself to raising funds to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes, through his successful career in endurance sports. He is the founder of the Born to Run Foundation, and Big Red Run - Australia's only desert running race. Over the last 6 years, $1.1 million has been raised for JDRF.

As if these efforts were not enough to keep Greg busy, in 2013 he founded the Birdsville Big Red Bash music festival, and also founded the Anzac Day Challenge in 2015.

Greg will be celebrating Australia Day with Bathurst at the Australia Day Awards Ceremony and Citizenship Ceremony at BMEC, as well as the BBQ Breakfast at the Eglinton War Memorial Hall.

Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre

Join us as we celebrate the new citizens in our community. On 26 January 2019, the Australian Government will mark 70 years since Australian citizenship was introduced into law, creating for the first time a legal status of being uniquely Australian.

For 70 years, citizens have been working together to build a strong, united and prosperous Australia. All citizens commit to Australia and its people, working together to increase the prosperity of our nation. In 2019 we celebrate the diverse stories of our citizens, the values that we share and the history we create together.

Find out more about Australian Citizenship on the Home Affairs website.
