Scope
This statement applies to user interactions with the Bathurst Regional Council (BRC) website, at http://www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au.

General
The site makes some use of data that directly or indirectly identifies users. We do not use any personal information for any purpose which is not related to the services we provide to you via this site. We take great care with practices that affect personal privacy. Data Collection
Data that in some way identifies the user is gathered during interactions with the BRC website in the following circumstances:

Computer Information
It is a necessary part of visiting any website, including the BRC site, that the user's web-browser provides the machine's identity (its IP-address) to the web-server, so that the server can address the reply to the correct machine. In addition, the browser-type and operating system are provided.

All personal data described in the preceding section is stored securely, and archived for a period of at least 12 months and possibly up to 7 years.

The data is used by BRC site software, and by staff involved in the management of the BRC site, only for:

  • Website and system administration, including monitoring to prevent security breaches, customisation of the website to the user's needs evaluation, research and development.
  • Identified data can only be re-disclosed to the user if the user provides the unique request session number. Identified data may be disclosed to a third party only in circumstances in which it is legally authorised, such as in the investigation of a criminal offence, and in compliance with a search warrant or subpoena.

Users 16 and Under
If you are aged 16 or under, get your parent or guardian's permission before you provide personal information to the BRC web site. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.

The staff who operate the BRC site, and most Commonwealth, State or Local government agencies, are subject to the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

When sharing articles from this website all data relating to the sharing process is kept by the respective social network used to allow the persistant sharing of the content. If you want to remove the shared item from your social networks stream/history you must use the web interface provided by the relevant service.

The only access to your sharing activities the administrators of this site have is through each respective social network applications.

Social Following
This website provides mechanisms that allow you to follow the activities of Bathurst Regional Council through Twitter and Facebook.

When you follow Bathurst Regional Council on any of these services the data is kept by the respective social network not by this website. To stop following Bathurst Regional Council you must use the web interface provided by the relevant social network.
