HMAS Bathurst s

The links between the Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Bathurst and our city continue to grow. The Darwin based patrol boat, which conducts routine patrols around Australian waters was in port on Monday and I met with the crew online and I was able to present them with a city of Bathurst flag and three street signs for George and Rankin Streets and Vale Road before they headed back out on patrol. The crew had written to Council asking for the signs and flag to display on board. The flag will be flown on special occasions highlighting the link between the ship and the city it is named after. The street signs will be erected on the ship’s deck. The signage is a unique way for the crew to connect with the ship’s hometown. We look forward to seeing the city of Bathurst flag flying proudly on HMAS Bathurst in the future.

Dam update

The recent rains and significant inflows have seen the Chifley Dam level rise to 48.4%. Large inflows have occurred over the last week and while this is great news, residents are reminded that extreme level water restrictions are still in place. Our community has been very responsive to the implementation of water restrictions and everyone has done a wonderful job so far in preserving our water supply. For more information, visit
