NAIDOC WEEK 2020
NAIDOC celebrates the survival of Aboriginal culture and the Aboriginal contribution to modern Australia. All Australians are encouraged to participate in NAIDOC Week activities.
NAIDOC Week is celebrated nationally in the second week of July each year, however, the local Aboriginal community chooses to celebrate NAIDOC Week in September each year. In 2020, due to COVID-19 the official NAIDOC Week Committee postponed the celebration of NAIDOC Week until November 2020. NAIDOC Week 2020 will be held from 8 - 15 November 2020.
The Theme for National NAIDOC Week for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be. This theme recognises and celebrates that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the ancient history of this country - a history which dates back thousands of generations.
Due to COVID-19 protocols a virtual commemoration will be circulated via social media channels.
