Smart benches have been installed across a number of convenient locations throughout Bathurst, including the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre, the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery/Bathurst Library forecourt, the Bathurst Rail Museum and the soon to be completed Streets as Share Spaces Project outside of Church Bar.
The smart benches and tables are fitted with technology that allows contactless charging of mobile devices by sitting them on the terminal attached to their seat. They also enhance the strength of the free public WiFi signal.
The technology is part of the Smart Cities Program designed to keep people in our CBD for longer and in turn supporting our local economy.
This project was joint funded by Bathurst Regional Council, the NSW Government's Building Community Partnerships Fund.
