Upper Turon bridge

The aging single lane wooden bridge across Big Oaky Creek on the Upper Turon Road at Sofala is being replaced with a dual lane concrete bridge.

The new bridge is eight metres wide (the old bridge was four metres) and the deck span has increased from 10 metres to 14 metres. The bridge deck is 300mm higher than the previous bridge with it designed for a 1 in 50 year storm.

The bridge has been designed so it better suits the shape of the creek, improving flow.

The bridge construction has been funded through the NSW Government's Fixing Country Bridges Program.
