For any building works carried out, it is a requirement that:

• Council is notified of an Exempt Development; or
•  an approval (Complying Development or Development Consent) is issued.

For all proposals that cannot be considered as either an Exempt or Complying Development, the development consent of Council is required by means of a Development Application.  An  information booklet outlining Councils requirements is also available.

A Construction Certificate is necessary to assess compliance with the Building Code of Australia where building work is to be carried out.  A Construction Certificate may be obtained from either Council or a private certifying authority.
