Members of the public are invited to attend all Ordinary Council Meetings, Policy Committee Meetings and some Committee Meetings, subject to the right of Council and Committees, pursuant to Section 10A(2) of the Local Government Act 1993 to resolve to exclude the public during consideration of a particular item or items on the business paper.
At the commencement of the Ordinary Council meeting which is held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm in the Council Chamber, members of the public are invited to address Council during public question time. Public question time is scheduled to commence at 7.00pm and conclude at 7.15pm or at the completion of questions.
Council also seeks public input on many issues throughout the year and these are generally advertised in the Council Notices Section of the local newspaper on Saturday.
The most important document requiring community input is the Annual Management Plan. This document sets the Council's agenda for the coming twelve months and lists its priorities for the future. The Management Plan is on public display for a period of twenty eight (28) days (usually in late April/early May) and is available at the Council Offices, the Library and on the website. |
