Council endeavours to keep up to date community plans, surveys, reports and profiles available to the public through its website. Council produces a Social and Community Plan every five (5) years, reports on its community well being indicators annually, conducts a community satisfaction survey annually and produces community profiles and strategic planning documents as required.
Council is currently developing a range of policies to support its Community Services Section.

The Bathurst Community Safety Plan 2011 – 2014 is the Bathurst Regions first Community Safety Plan. The development of a Community Safety Plan does not mean that Bathurst is an unsafe area. The development of a Community Safety Plan ensures the ongoing implementation of crime prevention strategies which will support the ongoing growth of the Bathurst Region as a healthy, socially cohesive and safe community.

The term social and community planning refers to the process of investigating and responding to the social needs and aspirations of all the people who live or work in a local government area. The Bathurst Social & Community Plan 2011 – 2016 has been developed in partnership with key stakeholders in our community. It will be used as a guide and measures for all in our community to build strength and vitality, provide services and facilities, reflect on history, appreciate our rural core and constantly grow our community spirit.
