The Bathurst Orange Dubbo Environmental Sustainability Action Plan is a strategic document that sets out principles to guide and engender action for environmental stewardship in the six key areas of water, biodiversity, solid waste and resource management, energy efficiency, salinity and pollution.
Bathurst Regional, Orange City and Dubbo City Councils secured a grant (2006/USS/005) from the NSW Environmental Trust Urban Sustainability Program to work together in the formulation of an intercity Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP).
The ESAP was prepared with assistance from an external consultant in consultation with representatives from Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo.
The Bathurst Orange Dubbo Environmental Sustainability Action Plan is a strategic document that sets out principles to guide and engender action for environmental stewardship in the six key areas of water, biodiversity, solid waste and resource management, energy efficiency, salinity and pollution. Education for sustainability and mitigation of climate change are seen to be fundamental issues that underpin sustainability and hence are addressed in the management action plan (MAP) of each of the six key areas.
Each Council placed the ESAP on public exhibition and invited submissions from members of the public. Each of these submissions were considered in the final draft of the ESAP, and are available to download below:
Each Council has formally adopted the ESAP, which was a condition of the grant funding from the NSW Environmental Trust.
