Established in 1986, Scallywags is a multi-purpose child care centre catering for 44 children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years. The Centre is situated in the CBD. Scallywags is proudly supported by Bathurst Regional Council and is accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council.

Scallywags has experienced, trained staff who devise programmes that cater for the needs and interests of each individual child. Children in the three to five age group participate in a pre-school programme. Scallywags encourages the family of children attending the Centre to become involved in their child's education. This in turn helps to develop a partnership between Scallywags and families to aid the child development. Parent involvement can consist of day-to-day interactions, children's programmes and parent committee which assists in policy-making and fund raising.

The Centre is self funding with Council administering funds and providing financial and management advice. An outline on fees (which include meals) can be obtained from the Centre.

Opening hours:
The Centre is open between 8.00am and 6.00pm daily, 49 weeks per year.
