Council has under its care and management extensive public assets.
The assets have been created and developed by Council to provide important infrastructure services, facilities and community services for residents and visitors to the Bathurst Regional Council area. These assets offer services and facilities for all classes of persons, and are critical to fostering economic growth, social development and efficient functioning of the region.
Council has adopted a Strategic Asset Management Policy (SAMP) to ensure that Council has an asset management program and policy that is relevant and responsive to Council’s present and future asset management requirements.
The SAMP program and policy represents a major strategic asset management initiative by Council. Its successful implementation is expected to provide the following benefits;
- provision of public safety as far as reasonably practicable,
- maintenance of asset quality standards,
- produce resource management benefits.
The SAMP program is underpinned by the development of “management standard schedules”. The standards can only be set at a level which Council and its budget can reasonably afford.
Supporting this program Council utilises the CONFIRM asset management software on which the majority of Councils assets are detailed. |
