Summary of Key Improvements |
- Floodlight landmark buildings eg. Churches, TAFE Complex and the Court House.
- Replace street name signage and provide new signage to off-street car parking areas.

Replace existing footpaths with new concrete footpaths of a grey/blue toning with a red brick/paver header course interspersed at 10 metre intervals – in an attempt to continue the patterned concrete with cobblestone trim style of days gone by. |
Install new mid-block crossings with 5 metre wide kerb kick outs on either side. Utilise balustrading, walls and planter boxes to guide pedestrian flow paths. Originally CBD roads were designed to be wide enough to enable bullock teams to turn around, and are still much the same width today. |
Provide contrast in pavements across roads and laneways which dissect a footpath to provide visual clarity to both drivers and pedestrians that they are entering a conflict point. Decorative pavement treatments reflecting a heritage style. |
Provide new street furniture – seats, bins, shelters, trolley racks, bicycle racks, tree guards and tree grates. Advertising on street furniture not permitted. |

Permit outdoor dining activities on public footpaths, particularly in those areas where the footpath has been widened. |

Provide new landscaping at a scale appropriate to building heights and particularly garden beds and planter boxes to add visual excitement to the streetscape.
Remove overhead electricity wires.

Improve lighting at pedestrian crossings, key street locations, under awnings/verandahs, in civic spaces, in laneways and in public car parks. |

Repaint all lamp standards in a traditional colour scheme. Install new replica lamp standards in lower George Street. Lamp Standards have been located in the centre of CBD roads since the late 1800s/early 1900s, and have been maintained as icons of Bathurst’s heritage. |
