Established in 1999 the Bathurst Regional Youth Council, formerly the Bathurst City Youth Council, consists of approximately 20 young people aged between 12 and 24 who wish to make a difference to their local community.

Youth Councillors represent each of the six local secondary schools, Bathurst TAFE and Charles Sturt University as well as various community groups such as Scouts, the International Friendship Group, and churches.

In 2010 the Youth Council completed a number of projects, including the ongoing development and upkeep of the Youth Council Website, the "Masquerade Madness" Dance Party, the "Live it Now" Youth Week event, the Indent Ten year Tour with Urthboy and a short film named "Out of It" addressing key youth issues in the region. Members of the 2010 Youth Council also attended important conferences such as the YAPA "Shift This" youth conference, and the CENTROC Summit.
