Council, since amalgamation, has allocated significant funding to the region's villages to improve their infrastructure under the Rural Village Infrastructure Improvement Program. Since this time, funding of approximately $1 Million has been granted for community identified infrastructure items. The following is a list of some projects which have been completed:
- Cricket nets in Rockley,
- Disabled toilet facilities in Sofala,
- Replacement BBQ and drinks shed at Wattle Flat,
- Expansion and upgrading of existing hall facilities in Yetholme,
- Community hall kitchen refurbishment in Hill End, and
- Construction of an all-weather multi-use court at Trunkey Creek Recreation Reserve.
Council will be preparing individual integrated Village Plans to cover the Villages of Hill End, Peel, Rockley, Sofala, Sunny Corner, Trunkey, Wattle Flat and Yetholme. The aim of the plans is identify each of the community's assets and preferred futures and develop individual strategic directions for each. The Plans will identify and prioritise opportunities to develop infrastructure, build business opportunities, create tourism prospects, build social capital, grow community capacity and importantly, plan for each Village's future in conjunction with Council, State and Federal Governments and associated funding opportunities.
Council is keen to receive feedback from you about potential infrastructure projects which could be included in these plans. Council will also be holding community workshops within each of the villages, so keep an eye out for those dates. Suggestions can be left via the forms listed below.
