Bathurst Local Aboriginal Consultative Committee
The aim of the Bathurst Local Aboriginal Consultative Committee (BLACC) is to provide advice on Aboriginal cultural and social issues to the Bathurst Regional Council to assist the Council to develop and implement policies and programs that will address the issues raised.
Some of the social issues to be considered by the group include;
- Local Aboriginal population figures
- Age range of local Aboriginal population
- Unemployment figures of local Aboriginal people
- Where are local Aboriginal people employed in Bathurst
- Local Aboriginal youth issues
- Educational issues
- Housing issues
- Health issues
- Legal issues
Some of the cultural issues to be considered by the group include;
- Providing an historical perspective on the Wiradjuri People of the Bathurst Region on the local tourism webpage, including information on Wiradjuri heritage, language and culture
- Recognition of the Wiradjuri People as the traditional owners of the area in and around Bathurst
- Recognition of all the Aboriginal language groups living in Bathurst

NAIDOC celebrates the survival of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous contribution to modern Australia. Bathurst Regional Council works with the Bathurst Aboriginal Reference Group and community members to plan activities and events for NAIDOC week. All members of the Bathurst community are encouraged to participate in the festivity of NAIDOC Week.
