Rail Action Bathurst (RAB) was established in February 2006 and is supported by Bathurst Regional Council. Chaired by Mr John Hollis, its members represent a wide range of community groups, including, the Country Women's Association (CWA), medicos, a variety of health support groups, the Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association (CPSA), TAFE, the University, local businesses in Bathurst and the Chamber of Commerce.
The objective of the Rail Action Bathurst Group is to bring to the notice of the NSW Government the dissatisfaction of the Bathurst community with a totally inadequate rail service to Bathurst, and the need to provide a day return rail service from Bathurst to Sydney.
Specifically, RAB believes the Bathurst district is entitled to a daily, dedicated, City Rail commuter service direct to Sydney with a minimal of stops (Lithgow, Katoomba, Penrith, Westmead, Strathfield and Central), providing a maximum three hour journey for commuters - leaving Bathurst at 6.00am with the return journey leaving Central at 5.00pm.
